These homemade slippers were inspired by one of the cows my grandpapa used to have on his farm. Her name was Goldilocks. I learned how to knit from my mother and developed a deep love for th craft and the culture behind it.
As some of you may already know, this little business began from a place of hardship. Our senior church house was tragically burned dowr due to a gas leak. For months, the residents-including myself— reported strange smells and concerns about the gas lines and other fire-related equipment. The attic always had a strong oil smell, but unfortunately, our complaints were ignored by the landlord. One day, the worst happened-the house caught on fire.
My husband suffered burns from his shoulders to his neck. Thankfully, I made it out safely and he is now recovering well. Sadly, the insurance company refused to help cover the damages, and I'm currently unable to work due to health issues. That's when I decided to put my heart into something I love-knitting -and began making these slippers to help support us.
At first, I was hesitant. I'm more familiar with Facebook, but my grandson encouraged me to share our story and products on TikTok. I never imagined so many kind people would show up with their support and kind words. We haven't made many sales yet, but the love and encouragement we've received on TikTok have given me hope to keep going.
